Dental strass is a new concept for decorating your teeth giving that extra glimpse to your smile. You can choose from a great variety of colors, shapes and sizes, like a subtle 24K gold or 22K white gold jewel, colored sapphire, ruby crystals etc. The choice is yours! An affordable option can be faux crystals and strass. When combined together on the same tooth or adjacent teeth, a real work of art can be created. For an updated, extremely glossy look, teeth whitening is recommended before strass placement. This way the strass adds shimmer to already lightened tooth color, bringing out the most of it!

Placement of the strass is really simple and completely free of any discomfort. The small jewelries are bonded on the external tooth surface, with the same bonding materials that orthodontic brackets are bonded, thus it is totally safe for the tooth and the gums. Also, it can be easily removed in a few minutes with special pastes and brushes leaving the outer tooth surface untouched, with no visible marks or yellowness. A tooth strass can also be placed on composite or porcelain restorations, on veneers, on crowns and bridges, following an alternative bonding protocol. The duration of the decoration depends on the daily habits of the patient and it may reach up to 4-5 years. However, habits like holding pens with your teeth, constant picking with toothpicks, holding electronic cigarettes or opening beer bottles that bring excessive pressure at the area, lead to premature debonding of the strass or to tooth fractures. If the strass is debonded, it can be reattached with the same procedure.

There is no contraindication for decorating your teeth with a strass. Since it is completely harmless for teeth, teenagers are also perfect candidates. The only condition to achieve proper bonding is that tooth surfaces should be clean and without external stains. If extrinsic stains are evident, a professional teeth cleaning should be performed prior to strass placement. After the placement, tooth brushing should take place as before, since there is no danger of debonding the strass with the toothbrush.
