What is Six Month Smiles?
Six Month Smiles® is the fastest way for anyone with displaced teeth, adults and adolescents over the age of 16, to get a brand-new smile full of confidence. The system consists of transparent brackets, which are specially designed for each tooth and each patient, and white wires. The mechanism is attached to the teeth, even though you can’t tell it is, and it doesn’t need to be removed and placed back in mouth after every meal, like invisible trays. It only exerts forces at the problematic areas, and therefore, the teeth are moving faster.
How does it work so fast?
Six Month Smiles® can repair gaps, crowded and misplaced, crooked teeth averagely in six months because it focuses only in the problematic teeth in each case. The adjustments of the mechanism are made every 2-4 weeks and the changes are visible from the very first month! An excellent oral hygiene is required during the therapy. At the end of the treatment a permanent retainer is placed guaranteeing that the result will last for a lifetime. It is either used a retaining appliance (Essix or Hawley) during the night, a permanent immobilization which is a thin metal wire (retainer), or glass fibers for a more aesthetic result. In some cases, more than one form of permanent retainers is necessary.
Braces or Six Month Smiles®?
In comparison to the classic orthodontics treatment with metal brackets and the Invisible technique of Clear Aligners, Six Month Smiles® can offer faster results in a lower cost. On the other hand, when the movements are “lighter”, Six Month Smiles® and Clear Aligners can offer the same advantages. However, compared to the classic metal braces, Six Month Smiles® are aesthetically superior and can offer a shorter treatment, often avoiding the extraction of teeth for orthodontics reasons.
